Belgian net salary: from gross to net in 1 minute
Quick estimate of your monthly net salary using the 2026 Belgian scale. Also shows total employer cost — useful when negotiating a complete package.
How does the calculation work?
Going from gross to net in Belgium happens in two steps.
- Employee NSSO contributions (13.07 %) — mandatory social security. Reduced by the « work bonus » for low incomes.
- Withholding tax — tax deducted at source from the taxable balance, in progressive brackets (from 26.75 % to 53 %). Reductions for dependent children and a non-earning spouse.
Note: this calculation does not take into account fringe benefits (meal vouchers, eco vouchers, company car, group insurance), commissions or income from multiple employers. For an exact calculation, use the official simulator FPS Finance.
What does my €3,500 gross give in net?
For a single person without children: ~€2,230 net per month + ~€825 employer contributions = ~€4,375 total employer cost.
Why does my colleague earn more in net than me for the same gross?
Probably because of their family situation (married, dependent children) which reduces their withholding tax, or extralegal benefits that don't go through gross.
What about the 13ᵗʰ and 14ᵗʰ month (holiday pay)?
Taxed at a higher average rate (~53.5 % exceptional withholding), so lower net. Our calculator only applies to ordinary monthly salary.
